How much of a reach is it for me?

<p>Hi, I was wondering how much of a reach Princeton is for me.</p>

Legacy</p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 4.00
Weighted GPA: 4.6
Rank: About 16/582, top 3%
Senior schedule: 4 AP classes, 1 honors, 2 elective type classes</p>

<p>Other AP's
AP Chemistry - 4</p>

<p>ACT: 31
SAT: 2050 (Not sending)
SAT subjects: Chem - 700, Math II - taking on Oct. 9, hoping for 700+, but I never know, sorry.</p>

<p>My experienced teacher said my essay was great. Made her cry.</p>

<p>Service: About 60 hours of tutoring (weekly), 120 of mentoring, 8 helping out at an Iron Man</p>

<p>So is it a high reach? I feel it is pointless, even with legacy. Should I save the $75, or is there a chance?</p>

<p>I fear your test scores undermine your chances. But legacy is big at Princeton, so you might as well buy the lottery ticket.</p>

<p>Too late for me on the tests, or I would retake. My parents for some reason think I am obsessing and will not let me. In the amount of time I would have to study anyway, I would most likely pull a 32.</p>

<p>test scores are low, but GPA is awesome and legacy helps. you could be “that kid” they always talk about at high-ranked schools. When they say “we’ve rejected the kid with the 2400, but accepted kids with 1900s.” apply.</p>

<p>It is a high reach, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply anyway.</p>

<p>A reach, but not pointless.</p>

<p>Most counselors suggest that you apply to several reaches, several likelies, and a safe. If you do not apply you may always wonder if you could have attended. I wonder if your father’s stories about the “killers” are to prevent you from being disappointed if you are not admitted. If you want to always play life safe and not take chances then perhaps you should not apply. If you would like the possibility that you could attend an outstanding university then make Princeton one of your reaches along with several likelies and and a safe.</p>
