I will be a freshman next year at Notre Dame, and I will be majoring in biology (premed). I know the academics are rigorous, and I am up for the challenge. I just want to know about how many hours a day the average ND student spends studying (not including actually attending the classes, of course). 3 hours? 6 hours? 9 hours? Do students have any free time at all?

Thanks in advance :)

I have a couple friends who are biology majors. They do a lot more work than me (business), but I would say they never do more than two or three hours in a day unless they have an exam or something. It really all comes down to time management. It’s still a lot of work but if you work ahead and spread it out you will be fine.

it really does depend on the week and the major…i am a civil engineer and i do work every night for at least a couple of hours (usually averaging 4 hrs)…but i do take weekends off for the most part…it is all about a balance but for bio i could see 3 hrs a night average to get average to above average grades (B+ to A- range)…however some weeks will be hell and others will be much more manageable.
