I went to open house at Michigan a few months ago. When they talked about the school of engineering they said that your ACT Math score should be at least a 29 and that they look at your individual ACT Math score(along with your composite) as part of the admission process.

So, I got a 30 composite and a 34 on the math. I have a 3.99 weighted gpa(don't know what my unweighted is, sorry), a lot of AP classes, and a sufficient amount of ECs. Basically, I want to know how much the 34 I got on math will help me when I apply to UofM Engineering this Fall.

Thanks in advance.

It will help… how much exactly will depend on other things. It would be helpful to know if you’re instate or out of state and what your unweighted GPA is (you should be able to figure this out pretty easily). Make sure you apply early, etc.

I’m instate and I’m definitely applying Early Decision or whatever it’s called. My school doesn’t offer us a uw gpa, I could probably calculate it on my own, but I’m too lazy.

Laziness is definitely an essential component of an engineering student…

Same, I have a 34 math as part of a 33 comp, and though I’m in-state, my gpa is 3.78uw. Would those scores be competitive within the CoE pool?

I walked into Michigan on a college visit having gotten a 31 on my practice ACT with a 32 in Math, and I was told that my score would be just fine, so yours should be. Since then, I have gotten 34s on both of my real ACTs, with a 34 and a 36 in Math.

How do you think I’d do with a 29 in Math? I got a 32 composite score on my ACT. In state student.
