How much weight?

How much weight do you think a 6 ft, 180 lb person would lose if he/she went without eating for a whole week? He/she will only drink water.

180lbs. ;)

Minimal weight and a lot of muscle mass (which is what burns the most fat; i.e, the less muscle mass you have, the less fat your body is capable of burning in the long run).

It's a very unhealthy enterprise, and please tell us if this is serious and if it is on the table as some sort of diet project. It's unhealthy, ineffective, and obsessive-compulsive. Please, please, don't do something as stupid as this. Don't try. A stable, healthy diet and exercise is the ONLY thing that works in the long run for losing weight and not 1) ruining your body, 2) looking like a flabby stick with meat pancakes hanging all over the place, 3) getting caught up into body obsession. EAT. EATING IS GOOD. Trust me on this one, people have been doing it for thousands of years.

google "3 day diet" you can lose seriously up to 10 lbs your first week following that diet. i havent seen a case where the person didnt lose any wieght

No! No diets or the inner righteousness in me will get upset!

Whatever you need to lose weight for, it just CAN'T be important enough for you to torture your body like that. Since I don't really know you and you thus have yet to say anything that would make me believe you deserve to fall prey to the stupid self-conscious things most people give in to, I actually care about you or any other schmock trying to do something like this out there.

It's bad. It's ineffective. It's destructive. Eat your veggies.

You don't need to do anything stupid or unhealthy to lose weight. Just cut out soda (terrible for you) and as much processed crap as possible (again, terrible for you), eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and exercise.

Keep in mind that if you really want to lose weight, you have to make a lifestyle change, not just go on a temporary diet and starve yourself.

You would lose a lot of weight. It will depending on how many calories you eat normally in a week. I am a wrestler and have gone with eating very little for like two or three days in a row and you can lose some serious weight. This is along with normal practice and extra running. I would advise you not to do it as it's unheathly and you will screw up your metabolism.

blah i thought this would be a weighted GPA question :P

but .. it totally depends on how many calories you normally consume. you won't lose much fat, as an above poster said, it will mostly be muscle mass.

I'd reckon you could lose ~25 pounds.

Fighters regularly shed 10-15 lbs over a couple days simply by losing water weight.

So stupid. You might lose anywhere up to 20lbs, but you'll look gross (your skin will be all flabby and you'll lose muscle), and you'll gain it all back as soon as you start eating again. Plus, your metabolism will be screwed, so you'll probably weigh even more than 180lbs in a few weeks.

Lose weight the healthy way.
