Hello. I'm a Canadian student in grade 10 and I would very much like to attend an US university in the future. However, my high school only offers one AP course. It's feasible to switch schools, but I don't want to because I'm involved in a lot of clubs/extracurriculars. So my question is, does it really matter? All my courses are basically a year ahead and in my grade 12 year I'll probably be taking around 4 AP courses online (though I've heard that's not the best option). Thanks!

It won’t hurt you. Your application is reviewed in the context of your high school. If you only had one AP available, colleges aren’t going to expect you to have any more than one.

It could, depending on the university. You could always self-study or take several SAT IIs.

You will be evaluated in reference to what your school offers. Colleges want to see that you took full advantage of what was offered at your HS and like it even better if you show the initiative to seek academic enrichment from other sources.

Unless you have decent evidence to back that up, I challenge that you have any idea what you’re talking about. And self-studying is mostly overrated. It’s unnecessary.
