What are my chances in getting into UCLA with a smooth PLAN (emphasis on plan, i'm a HS Senior planning ahead of time) that smoothly achieves IGETC requirements AND all of my pre-requisites in a year. I am just wondering if maybe there's too much competition with the "TAP Certified" seal on their name which would put me under them. :-S How prioritized would they be over mines?
Intended Major: Biology B.S. (super impacted)
Side Comment: I'm able to finish my IGETC requirements and Prerequisites due to 7 AP's which equal up to 7 classes and ~20 units and I will also plan to concurrently take a class during spring and take summer classes which would be up to 30-35~ units by Fall 2015.

Put a lot of thought into this guys, appreciate some feedback about their selection process.
Thanks for reading, appreciate your acknowledgement :)

If your GPA is 3.5~3.6+, you’ve completed your pre-reqs by the end of Spring 2015 and you’re TAP certified, you’ll have a very strong chance of getting admitted.

TAP will help a lot if you’re a borderline applicant, and even if you won’t be, it’s always nice to have that on your side when it comes time to apply. Good luck.

Thanks @Cayton, I’m very motivated to keep my grades >3.7. I realize that you know a lot about UCLA, if I were to just stick my head in the books for my whole CC career and finish all requirements for UCLA in a year with great grades I probably won’t get that much Extra Curriculars. I plan on getting involved with at least 2 clubs in my CC, and volunteer a couple of times, but how much does UCLA factor in EC’s to get accepted? Would I be ok just focusing on my academics rather than EC? Thanks for replying @cayton. I appreciate your feedback!

If I have the ability to transfer in one year, I want to try it out. I haven’t done so well during my High School Career, kinda regret it. Luckily I took AP Classes and feel like I have a second chance of redeeming myself and coming back better than ever. The more I plan towards a one year transfer the easier it looks. I just wanna try it out, if I find it too insane my first semester then i’ll lighten my workload a bit and just transfer next year. Most of the prereq’s and IGETC requirements are either:
-half-fulfilled by AP credit
-or just general review with new material

UCLA cares about extracurriculars, but not as much as they do for high school applicants. Volunteering, club participation, work, or anything related to your major will look pretty good.

Academics is most important, but UCLA does review applications holistically. Be sure to keep that in mind.

If I recall correctly, TAP requires a certain number of Honors-level classes and membership in the CC Honor Society, things that may not be achievable during the first couple of months before applications are due (Start in Sept. 2015, applications due Nov. 2015). I thought this was the crux of the question. I have no advice, but is this what you are asking?

Since you are so clear on your plan, which I think is a great plan, I would spend a bit of time this calendar year finding out how to get more involved in the CC, maybe even while co-enrolling next semester. I would also find out about scholarship opportunities. For example, did you know that there is a category of 2-yr. Regents Scholar specifically for transfer students? Look at the CC scholarship office and at UCLA to see what you can be targeting/expecting.
