I read that Uber came to the Upper Valley about a year ago. I am curious to know how much students use it to get around the area.
Students do use it, although there are not many Uber cars around I believe there are more drivers flocking to this area. Can’t say for sure though. There are also zip cars on campus that you can rent
@doorrealthe Thanks!
My daughter graduated in 2017. I was not aware of Uber being available. My recollection was that there were literally only a couple of cabs in Hanover that were difficult to use because of limited availability. She used Zipcar, located on campus and available to Dartmouth students from age 18 with clean driving records through an arrangement with the College, for occasional trips to the nearby WalMart, Price Chopper, Home Depot, TJMAX, and Kohl’s. We even used her Zipcar account to get a campus car to go shopping during commencement weekend. Otherwise, the free local bus service seemed to work fine, even for getting to and from her internships over the years. For trips to Boston or NYC, the very convenient and affordable Dartmouth Coach worked wonders. That’s also what she used to get to and from Logan Airport in Boston for flights back and forth each term. The Coach ran many times daily directly to and from Logan, North Station in Boston, and the Dartmouth Green, as well as a couple of trips to NYC. It even had extra express buses scheduled during peak travel times each term. There should be no problems with travel to and around Hanover for Dartmouth students or visitors.
