U Chicago

My EC's are solid, but my grades freshman year don't look so nice
2 B's in English H
1 B in Bio H>>>>>>> 2 A's in AP biology this year
1 B in Chemistry H>> 2 A+'s in AP chemistry last year
-my only B's are in freshman year since i had trouble adjusting to high school with my Dad leaving for work in China and my Mom belittling me on everything i did...
-What mainly concerns me is that I am an Asian male applying to top colleges with my grades. For a school like Caltech, B's in English may be ok, but not in any math or science courses, in which case i have two.

Please comment and thanks a bunch!

You’re a solid candidate for all of those schools, but remember that admissions for top-tier schools can be almost random. As for your freshman year, colleges don’t tend to really mind the poor freshman year grades so much. In fact, they may even like to see the upward trend. Good luck!

Super qualified. I hope you get into your top choices. Do you go to my school by any chance? AHS?

I’m at Troy high school. Is AHS in Ventura County area by chance?
