Does that mean you got rescinded? =(

If you are referring to me, no, I emailed them and they replied that they are still in the process of reviewing my application, so I don’t know yet.

@Cherri

Is that all the counselor said to you? What exactly did you say to them? Did you have a chance to explain your situation or special circumstance if you have one?

Oh and how long did they take to email you back?

Did any of you get the “Your admission is in jeopardy” email yet? That comes first. After you let your admissions person know.
I got my response 2 days after that when I called in to ask about something else. Yeah, baddddd timing.

Wait, forensicanthro: You got the jeapordy email or you’re rescinded entirely?

@rikko It only took them a couple hours for them to email back, but I don’t know if they actually read my email because a lot of times when you email the school they give you copy and paste robot answers if you know what I mean. As for a chance for me to explain my situation, no, they didn’t ask but I added it to my email. They just replied “we are in the process of reviewing your application”

And when I called them, the counselor just asked for my final grades and my SID number and then pulled up my transcript. He didn’t say much, except when I tried to ask him if I was okay because it wasn’t an A-G requirement he said " well a D is a D"
He was nice though. He made a comment saying “wow your GPA was good coming in. You must have fell asleep this year eh?”

@forensicanthro wow what happened to you was harsh! I don’t know how the process works but you should be given the chance to appeal. I really don’t understand why failing trig/precalc is a big deal if you already took the MAE and got placed in a class. They haven’t replied to me yet but my GPA dropped to 3.58 this year and they check on your progress, sadly. So they’re so strict this year they didn’t even take your entire transcript into consideration? Was your trig/precalc an honors course?

Oh, well this is from the undergraduate facebook page. This explains why they’re strict.

“It’s not that UCR over admitted students, but that we had more students select UCR than we could have ever predicted. What you will see is that all of the offices will be strictly adhering to all deadlines and provisions of admission.”

Well, it turns out that I didn’t receive a D after all! I wish you all good luck in getting into UCR :

Yeah, they’ve gotten ridiculously strict. I asked the head admissions person and she said “We’re usually REALLY lenient with the provisions of admissions, but this year is just too weird.” I knew something bad was going to come out of it.

are you going to try to appeal?

oh and I just got the jeopardy mail, now I have to wait 5 business days for bad news.

So 1 D= Auto Rescind, No Appeal. Right? And out of curiosity, what does the Jeapordy email say?

so…I’m pretty sure I got a D in my AP enviro science class this semester and i told UCR about it. I got an email two days ago from one of the counselors and he asked me to email him my grades from first and second semester. The thing is, I dont have my first semester grades because i lost them from moving and i dont have my second semester grades cause my report card didnt come yet. Should I call UCR and just try to have a talk about my admissions? Should i just wait until they receive my final transcript? Should i go back to my high school and ask them to show me my grades?

I dont know what to do and i’m pretty worried that they’re going to rescind my admissions after reading so many rescinded posts on the UCR Class of 2014 facebook page.

i got rescinded. i had a d in first semester of ap calculus and C- in second semester. i still got cut. this sucks.

i had 3.0 first semester, 3.6 second semester…

and i never got a email that said “your admissions is in jeopardy” or anything. sigh I wish…

@Mouthcountser just basically the email says that your application is in jeopardy and that it will take 5 business days for them to get back to you so they can review

@itspat you really should get that transcript, whenever I talk to the UCR staff they always say “well we can’t tell you anything until we see your transcript” so if your school is still open you should probably go back to ask them to send it

@Rafaela I’m really sorry to hear that. What was your overall GPA if that’s not too personal?

my gpa is not that high though aha, like a 3.2 overall

ooh, I hope you can appeal, that’s what other people are attempting to do anyway I don’t know if it works.

Man that sucks, and AP calculus is a rigorous course. My friends didn’t even bother taking a 4th year of math…they had the right idea…

thanks cherriterra, i will give that a try definitely

your friends are very smart

Rescinding is definitely tough this year but not always the case. I got a D in english 2nd semester and called in and my counselor told me that a D or F in a-g courses means auto-cancellation but then I talked with her during orientation and she said that I was fine because I still had a 3.0. Good Luck to everyone

Yeah I agree with tlurb46.

My account UCR yesterday got wiped. All my alerts gone, and it said I was rescinded. But I got a call from counselor later saying that I got a second review and passed, and that my account will return to normal (it hasn’t yet).

I REALLY do not want to give false hope, I do not know what they look for when they review and this may not work for everyone, but communication is key. I called in 2-3 weeks before I was “officially” rescinded, and that might have had to do with it. I don’t know how I passed, I just know I prayed a lot and I’m really grateful. Good luck everyone.
