Hi guys! I'm a rising Senior in California and I was wondering how *****ed I am for college apps. I'm currently in a program where I take college courses in the nearby college for college credits and my last two years of high school.

I've received various awards but nothing super-major or higher than 3rd place in State.

I've been able to make a 2400 on my SAT and a 36 on my ACT BUT I have no leadership positions due to certain circumstances.

I'm from an impoverished family, and I work part-time.

I was a straight-A student but I recently received a B from the Ivy-League professor at the college who gives everyone B's and a B in Chemistry because of a misbubbling error on the final facepalm

There is a space for “special circumstances” on the Common App. Your stats are good, and your transcripts are good. Your main weakness is your lack of ECs, but if there is a particular reason for this, just be sure to explain it to colleges.

This is where you’re essays become HUGE! Write about your struggles to get through a hard life while maintaining high academic standings. Working to help feed your own family as an HS student is an EC that most cannot boast (love the rhyme :P).

In my opinion, you still have a very good shot at getting into top schools! Just be sure to really kill it on your essays.

Good luck bud!

People like you infuriate me

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do have a lot of EC’s but I don’t know how well I’ll fare applying to a competitive college.

Also, destinyhelp: huh?

Oh, okay. I think you think you are a lot more screwed than you really are, then. I agree with Hacktacular – essays could really help ya out here.

I have a 3.3 GPA and a 1710 on the SAT. You are not screwed.
Good job :)

Which college has the ivy league professor?

You’re just kinda worked up. RELAX!
Your SAT/ ACT scores look pretty strong IMO, and working part-time can be a good point to raise.
Just work on the essays for sure, like Hacktacular says!

you are beyond screwed bro 2400 and 36? And straight A’s you aint getting in nowhere just hope you can atleast get into your community college
