I’m an Indian national, residing in India. I wish to pursue pre-med courses at UBC.
I got a 9.0 CGPA average in my 10th Standard Board examinations. I secured 80% in the science stream in my 12th Board examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board (81.54% being among the top 1 % of all applicants).
I scored 1850 in the SAT.
Nothing phenomenal. Be blunt with me. Do I have a shot at UBC? Also how are my chances at other Canadian colleges like University of Alberta or University of Victoria?
BTW I had PCB(Physics, Chemistry, Biology) as my science subjects in 12th standard.
Not as selective as it should be. They have very low standards for international students because they want to take their money. You will get in for sure.
And they have a high flunk out rate for internationals!
Although with an 1850 SAT you will likely succeed. SAT’s are only considered for Americans.
I think you’d also get into U of T. Don’t know about the others, sorry.
@emory323 That’s alright. Appreciate the feedback. BTW if I ‘do’ get admitted to UBC or UofT, what are my chances to get grants?
As an international, not a very good chance.
@TomSrOfBoston Gotcha. And about dropouts. I would love to get some insight on that.
Many internationals who enroll at Canadian universities have less than fluent knowledge of English and struggle. Since you scored 1850 on the SAT, even though not required for admission as an overseas student, you should not have any problems adapting.
You would get little to nothing for grants. That’s why their admission standards are low for international students! You will be giving them a lot of money if you attend.
