How Should I Prep For UChicago Interview?

Hi there!

I have an interview on tuesday with a Minnesota alumni, and after reading about some questions people have been asked, I’m a bit worried. How should I prepare? What should I expect? I had a Northwestern interview, and it was very causal.

Also, we are meeting in a hotel restaurant. What should I wear?

Thanks!

Just be yourself, that is the best way to prepare for an interview like that. Chicago is not big on interviews, lots of admitted students did not even went for an interview.

EllieRosie, I requested interview for both colleges you mentioned but did not receive any response. Is it possible to share how and when you got interview invitation? Thanks!

OP, just be yourself. Don’t overdress. Don’t underdress. Don’t have scripted answers to recite for every question you think will come up. Just have a conversation. Interviews aren’t weighted heavily at all in your application, unless they go very poorly or excellently.

That said, don’t go into the interview uneducated. Read up on anything and everything UChicago related. Show you’re actually interested in the school.

@DSmith2017 I’d advise you to start another thread. Don’t hijack Rosie’s.

But I will interject to say that getting an interview offer is based on a bit of luck: whether there is an interviewing alumnus in your area, and whether you are in the pool of people that they are interested in interviewing (a sad reality of a growing number of applications–there aren’t enough interviewers).
