how strict is your school?

Attendence: Ypu can get detention or suspensions for too many tardies or unexcused absences. For an unexcused absence, all work missed on that day counts as a zero. If you miss more 5 or more days because of excused absence (sickness), you need a doctor's note to return to school.

Homework: Generally depends on the teacher. I have classes where homework is not checked and another one where your homework is worth as much as a test.

Coming Late to class: Generally depends on the teacher. It can lead to a detention.

Staying on School Grounds: Stay on school grounds, no exceptions.

Walking in the Halls: Every student is assigned two random off periods during the day, so many people wonder the halls all day.

Etc.: All-boys Catholic school. Uniform is strictly enforced, especially the hair policy. I am actually going to get a detention tomorrow because I ran out of lunch money on Friday. Cell Policy is strict, If it goes off, it is taken away and you get detention.

attendance: They don't care.

homework: Turn it in when it's due, or you get a zero or, if you're lucky, half off.

staying on school grounds: SUPER strict. There's a security guard at each exit. Our school campus is a big rectangle, and two sides are the highway, and two are pineapple fields. They surround the field sides with barbed wire fences. Kinda like a jail, lol.

coming late to class: They don't care.

walking in the halls during class (for exmaple if going to the restrooms): They'll say "get to class", or just ignore you. Unless you're loud or smoking.

etc:
..The dress code is pretty much non-existent.
..Pregnant chicks can do what they want.
..If they don't know what to do with you after you broke a rule, they just suspend you for a day.
..They love to suspend people.
..We have 12 security guards who wander around in golf carts. 2 will buy weed and coke from students.
..How long you get suspended can sometimes depend on who you're related to.
..We have an on-campus police officer and cop car at all times.

Attendence: Don't care

Homework: Most teachers don't care. A very few number of them do.

Coming Late to class: Locked out; cannot come in unless excused

Staying on School Grounds: Don't care

Walking in the Halls: Extremely crowded. Occasional nods at friends.

Etc.: Canadian public. I think that pretty much sums everything up. Only around 25% move on to some type of post-secondary institution.

attendence: one tardy and you get a detention.

homework: no late assignments.

staying on school grounds: it's a private school. usually there are a lot of clubs.

cell phones: some teachers dont care but others are like super crazy if your cell rings.

oh and we cant wear flip flops except for free dress day!

attendance: don't really care. but miss >20% of class and you risk losing credit for that course

homework: depends. I usually take 4-5 hours

staying on school grounds: can't. Too far away from home

coming late to class: depends on teacher.

walking in the halls during class: no one cares.

I guess I should expand on "etc."

Dress code: Rather lenient, based on common sense. Although it is lenient, it generally will be enforced.

Cell phones: You're not allowed to take cell phones or other electronic devices (including iPods) out during school hours or it's an automatic suspension. You can only take them out before or after school. Some teachers won't enforce this, and some will allow them in special circumstances (my chem teacher allowed us to take pictures on them of an exploding methane bubble). Many see this rule as tyrannical and want it changed. I don't care personally, I don't even have a cell phone.

Wow, my school is so much lax than you guys.

Attendance: absolutely no enforcement, you can skip class and they won't care, they won't penelized you on grades if you miss classes

Homework: depends on the teacher, but its a pretty liberal policy

Staying on school grounds: again, students skip classes all the time...it's not even amusing anymore

Coming late to class: depends on the teacher, but more teachers will let you in if you are only a couple minutes late

**Attire: **the school does not care what you wear...it's crazy...some girls wear the skimpiest outfits...it's like they were wearing little bikinis..you can go barefoot...even no shirt

My school is a large public...which explains a lot... sigh

attendance: each unexcused absence= detention, but if your parent calls in, you're fine... 3 tardies= detention

homework: depends on teacher, but most just take off points if it's late

staying on school grounds: not allowed to leave the building at all during the day

coming late to class: there is a five minute passing period. generally if you are 2+ minutes late, you'll get a detention

walking in the halls during class: you need a hallway pass. if you don't, its not really a big deal unless you get stopped by the school's president (he just walks around the halls all day)

dress code: VERY VERY STRICT DRESS CODE: all dress attire, button up shirts (no polos), dress pants (no jeans), dress shoes (no sneakers or sandals), skirts have to be at the knee, and everything has to be a solid color. shirts also have to be tucked in. if you are out of dress code, you will get a detention. Also, boys have to have their ties all the way up to their necks, have to be cleanly shaven, and cannot have earrings. these things all equal instant detention.

Attendance: If you skip class, then you get a cut, and if you get 5, then you get dropped from the class.

Homework: Depends on the teacher, but in general you get points off for late work.

Staying on school grounds: Anyone can leave anytime.

Coming late to class: You get a tardy, and if you get 8 you get dropped from the class.

Walking in the halls: No one cares

dress code: doesn't exist

if your tardy at my school, they tie you to the flagpole at the end of the day (no matter how cold it is) and you have to stand there, tied down, whille everyone else walks by you to the buses/cars. People spit on you. Its horrible. Plus they don't even let you wear a coat, and this kid had to do it last week in 10 degree weather. He got scarlet fever.

alright

attendance: if you cut its supposed to lower your grade by one half step. if you cut enough it can lead to a fail, obviously. you only need a parent's phone call to get excused

homework: depends on the teacher. most of my teachers dont grade homework, except one who assigns about half of it in our book (which goes ungraded) and the other half is writing stuff that we have to turn in to be graded

staying on school grounds: we have an open campus for all grades. basically you can be wherever you want as long as you get back for your classes/assemblies/whatever

coming late to class: im pretty sure theres an official policy on this (i.e. some amount of tardies will equal a cut and if youre >15 minutes late itll count as a cut) but it really depends on the teacher. ive been marked late for 5 minutes but had no trouble coming inlater than that to other classes. it also depends on why youre late, and theyre pretty trusting

walking in the halls during class: as long as youre not cutting class you can be anywhere on campus

etc: we have no dress code at all, and coming from a fairly strict (button down + tie) uniform in middle school i gotta say its awesome. i can wear a potleaf tshirt and noone will blink an eye

attendance: You get points (I think 3%) off your grade for every unexcused absence not counting anything else you may have missed (you get zeros on assignments you missed). Parents call out to excuse you.

homework: Depends on the teacher, some check it, some (often AP teachers) don't, usually you can turn it in late for half credit or something, bigger assignments usually lose a full letter grade for every day that they're late.

staying on school grounds: We have totally open campus after first semester freshman year, you're parents, GC, dean, etc. sign a form once and you can go wherever you want as long as you aren't getting into trouble or skipping class.

coming late to class: 3 tardies = one unexcused absence which takes off points and some teachers have harsher penalties.

walking in the halls during class (for example if going to the restrooms): They don't care, as long as you're not disruptive you can be wherever you want.

attendance: no one really cares. it doesn't affect your grades and no one asks any questions about unexcused absences. i think i've missed somewhere around 25 "half-days" (how my school counts absences) this year.

homework: just copy it and its not a big deal. most teachers grade it though.

staying on school grounds: go where you want, when you want if you're an upperclassman. underclassmen are supposed to stay on campus, but not many do.

coming late to class: depends on the teacher, but most dont really care/wont say anything about it.

walking in the halls during class: no one cares. in fact, ive noticed that there seem to be more seniors in the hall (our school has 1500 kids but its built so you can basically see anywhere else in the building from one spot) during class than at any other time of day. and there are definitely more people in the halls during class than during lunch (when everyone leaves campus).

dress code: none. at all.

i go to school on the west coast. so that's how it is.

I go to an all-boys private, catholic, college-prep high school. Considering all that, my school is less strict then some public schools I know.

attendance: all absentees must report that they won't be in school before 8:05 am by a parent. Two consecutive days need a doctors note. Too many lates/absents could mean detention.

homework: homework counts for at least 10% of your grade, so omit at your own risk. (most accelerated/honors/AP teachers don't check homework, it wastes class time and you need to do it to do well in the class anyway)

staying on school grounds: no one is allowed to leave school grounds. first offense = after school detention.

coming late to class: my school is campus style (we have classes in four different buildings), so teachers allow a 3 minute extra leeway. Coming late too many times equals a teacher detention.

walking in the halls during class (for exmaple if going to the restrooms): perfectly fine.

Wow I'm glad I'm not at one of your schools.. Or else I'd be in a pretty big trouble.

Our school isn't that strict, 80% of it all depends on teachers. In some classes, I can just walk out of my class to go to the bathroom without asking. (They say it annoys them when kids ask to go to the bathroom in the middle of a lesson) And in some classes I can be few minutes late to classes and I won't be marked as late... It all depends on what type of teacher you have!

But taking off marks for unexcused absences seems pretty extreme to me.

Most teachers don't check homework, unless it's an assignment to collect/mark. I have 7 classes a day, and only 2 teachers check homework. Apparently it's up to us to decide whether we do hw or not.

We have few dress codes. We are not allowed to wear tank tops with spaghetti straps, clothes that show your midriff, or wearing shorts or skirts that go higher than your fingertips.

I go to Starbucks nearby(10-15 minute walk?) in my spare(40 minutes) almost every day.

If you skip class, you get sent to the "dungeon" where you can't eat for two days. They only allow water, IF your good. and your parents cant' get u out cuz of some waiver they signed
