I plan on majoring in engineering and want to work in the Silicon Valley area. How useful would the USC alumni network be in that part. I also never hear of big companies recruiting from USC. Can anyone confirm this or offer a contradictory real life example?

General info:

There is an active and vibrant USC Alumni Club of Silicon Valley that holds events (often weekly, especially in the fall during football season), sponsors scholarships, and puts on the annual USCendoff for new students.

Information for this group can be found here:
http://www.siliconvalleytrojans.org/v3/

They also have an open Facebook group that details events and connects Silicon Valley Trojans. Search “USC Alumni Club of Silicon Valley”.

There are other alumni groups in the greater San Francisco/Bay area. Active groups are the USC East Bay Alumni Club and the San Francisco Alumni Club. The Marshall School of Business has a number of business alumni groups stretching across the world. Marshall has a northern California club that has events each month, but switches locations between the city and the peninsula. For that group the president is Kyle Kampka.

There is a Trojan Club in northern California which supports the SC athletic programs.

Alumni keep in touch through social media, especially alumni newsletters, Trojan Family magazine and “Back to Campus” events.
