Where exactly do you live?

That's really very stunning. Because, even as a girl, being short as garnered me unpleasant comments. I really, really find it... what's the right word... unbelievable that you've never once been singled out negatively for being short. Actually, I find it impossible. Sometimes people choose to hear things and pretend not to hear others. Sometimes people are... willfully oblivious. Sometimes people... overcompensate.

Perhaps you are getting insulted for other reasons, so they pick out all of your flaws, your personality isnt too charming, so I figure you probably are an easy target.

I'm glad I can defy the laws of possiblity though, makes me even MORE awesome.

Uh huh. And these places, do they feature shorter populations where you might fit in physically? Because a 5'5 male in, say, the Netherlands, in which the average female height is several inches taller than you are, would probably stick out.

How's Germany or Russia stack up in terms of height? You seem to think you are the Dutchess of all things Height, so enlighten me.
Unforunately for me, it's not just the media. I suppose all I can say is that you're obviously very lucky you don't live where I live, or all 5'5 inches of you wouldn't be so jolly about being your height.
Or as I said earlier in the post, people don't like you for other reasons. I'd have a reason to not be so jolly if I had your personality as well.

Apparently she lives in a land where the Jolly Green Giant and Paul Bunyon play kickball every week, where short people are subhuman and fed to the wolves.

LOL...

Yeah, valentina, being short is sometimes a pain, but if for one second you could realize that everybody has an issue with something, but they deal with it, and actually have an optimistic, confident outlook on life...I think you'd see everything change.

Eh, I thought so. Over-compensation...

No. But I do know a lot of people around who would find a 5'5 male who proclaims to have never experienced the slightest form of height discrimination sort of sad.

No, actually. But a 5'5, rather gung-ho male who insists that he's never ONCE felt badly about being on the very short side might be an appealing "target," not because he's short, but because it seems somewhat delusional.

I find it sad that you are so reluctant to believe something so easily believable. Then again, with your apparent inferiority complex, it's easily believable since you have apparently been wronged by "the man". The only person in this exchange who is dilusional is you. Hell, you said it yourself, "the media says...", keep listenin to the media hun, perhaps you'll catch the wave where jumping off a cliff is the latest fad.

Being short isn't that bad for girls, valentina, unless you're like 4 feet tall (if you are, I apologize).

That's really a matter of contention. The "easily believable" part, I mean. I'm actually glad for you think that you've never ever once, in your entire life, been even jokingly slighted for being short. Whether anyone would actually believe that is of course really a different matter.

I also rather clearly stated later that it wasn't just the media, but the actual people around me.

Like I mentioned, some people are selective in what they choose to remember and pay attention to, which obviously might help them feel both "more awesome" about themselves as well as impervious to, say, height discrimination.

I'm quite sure I would notice if anyone has ever said anything negative to me in regards to my height. I have a VERY good memory and I'm over analytical/critical. Perhaps these insults which HAVE TO HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT NOT TO HAVE HAPPENED found a rut in my brain and I can't remember them.

Also, my awesomeness has nothing to do with my height. It has everything to do with my character(something which you clearly lack, which in turn is your reason for lack of awesomeness), accomplishments and relationships I've had with people.

well as i said im only 5'5" and youd be surprised...its defintieyl hard to find girls who dont care, quite frustrating

Valentina, how about we just make love and call it a truce?

I never said it wasn't bad for guys; I definitely prefer taller guys.

yea, you two should hug it out

Lets all be buddies hoke!

I was in a love making mode, not buddies. Valentina apparently was not feelin my signals.

we'll be buddies anyway

valentina, I don't really see what the issue is here. hokegoalie clearly hasn't been scarred for life as a result of being short, and that's great! You seem to want him to feel bad about it, and that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I think she is angry that she has been picked on for being short and I have not. Perhaps that has affected her attitude on life and personality.

i am 5'8, but i am dragged down by my gigantic package

package of what?

thanks for the clarification.....it all makes sense now
