I know, this may seem like a stupid question but how do I address an adcom?? I am going to call her either today or tomorrow. I am also pretty nervous because I have a list of things I need to mention but I don't want the call to come across as scripted.

If her name was listed online as simply "Jane Smith", would I call her Jane? Ms. Smith? I don't know her marital status so I am not really sure what to do.

I think Ms. Smith would be just fine. Depending on the school, she might tell you to call her by her first name.

Kudos to you for calling an admission officer yourself. It's refreshing to hear from students directly instead of a counselor or parent. We're happy to talk to counselors and parents, but it's especially nice to talk directly to students.

Oh reeeeally? Maybe I should give my admissions rep a call. I have so many questions I would like to ask, but I have always been afraid to call or email. I know it's good for "applicant interest" but I always feel stupid when I try.

So I am feeling a little dejected right now. An alumni told me to contact a certain person in admissions to talk about my application. So apparently, this woman is the senior associate director of admissions and when I called the admissions office, the secretary was giving me a hard time about talking to her. She came back to the phone and said she was busy and will call me back later today. I guess I feel like they don't want me to talk to her. It is almost like they feel I will be wasting her time.

Does anyone else have an exp. with this sort of thing??
