How to Adjust to Life as a Transfer?

How have you adjusted to life as a transfer student? Namely:

How was it like leaving behind your old school and friends? How did you break it to them, and how did they react?

How did you fit in at your new school? In terms of friends, student organizations, etc. Where you still able to get involved in and connected with the campus? How did others on campus react to finding out you were a transfer, if they knew?

Did you feel that having your college experience split up between multiple schools diluted it at all?

If you haven't transferred yet, are you also feeling anxious about these things?

Personally for me, I wish I had just made the right choice first time around...

Thanks!

I am feeling super anxious about all the questions you’ve asked, MonkeyKing1. I feel exactly the way you do… “I wish I had just made the right choice first time around…”

I start school in January as a transfer, so I can def answer the last two.

I am feeling SUPER anxious about it. I’m completely changing environments (way more academically challenging, like 32,000 more students, different policiea and whatnot.) and just the whole idea of going to a new place with new people. And I can tell that no matter what happens it’s going to be a diluted experience. A make a ton of friends wherever I go, but nothing could compare to tue relationships that were made my freshie year. And I’m gonna he graduating a full 2 years behind my high school friends and previous college friends. I know I’m gonna have a blast but it’s still freaks me out somewhat.
