How to answer "Which best describes your Black or African American background?"?

On the Common Application, there is a question asking about the demographics of my ethnic background, the options being African, Caribbean, or US. The problem is, my father is from Nigeria and my mother is from Jamaica (both raised in these countries their entire lives up until they were old enough to pursue college degrees, which they did in the US). I was raised in the United States and consider myself an African American, as well as an African and a Jamaican. Currently, I have checked all three boxes as well as other, using the extra space to explain my background in greater detail.

Should I just check all three, only African and Caribbean, only US, go with what I’m doing now, or just check other and explain?

It doesn’t matter, but I’d describe you as African and Caribbean. The US part will be evident from your address, your schooling and your parent’s schooling. Still check as many or as few boxes as you want.
