How to approach no response to email requesting letter of rec?

Hi,

I’m planning on transferring from my current university and so I asked two of my professors last Tuesday via email if they could write letters of recc. on my behalf. I’d say I had good relationships with both professors (i.e. attending office hours, doing ec related to course subject). One of the professors has responded and agreed to write a letter of recommendation while now, after a week has passed, still no response from the other. I should maybe note that the professor who responded I emailed via their personal account rather than university.

I’m not sure why my professor hasn’t responded but I would at least appreciate a rejection. I should also note that I got an A in the class.

Not sure what my next moves should be but would appreciate any advice. Classes at my university start next week (week of 1/9).

Not everyone checks email while on vacation time away from work. I would wait until classes start and see if you hear back and if not, I would stop into their regularly scheduled office hours.

I don’t see a problem yet. When do you head back to college? I’d wait until next week. It’s fine to send a short email to say you’re checking they saw the request.

Next week but we have been pushed virtual for first two weeks

  1. What is the day you need the LORs by? Did you make that clear in your request?

  2. Some professors may not diligently check their email during school breaks. I’d wait a few days after school is back in session (even virtually) and see if the second prof. replies.

2/1 but technically I don’t need a LOR since there’s no required amount for the school but the next tentative deadline would be 2/15

It’s fine to send a friendly reminder email after a week or even wait a little longer.

I’d wait until maybe mid next week and email the professors then as school will be back in session.
