there were some problems with my power plug, mainly, it won't receive power from the power cord. so i disassembled my laptop in an attempt to change the power cord thing, but i think it's glued to the motherboard, and i have no idea where to get a new power thingie. does anybody know what i'm talking about? it's not the power cord that plugs into an outlet, but the thing the cord gets inserted into. this part is hard to explain, even harder to find.

if your computer has a manufacturer, i’m guessing this is the part where you call them… generally, “glued to the motherboard” means “don’t mess with me.”

You could try taking it to a computer fixing place or you can call the maker of the computer (if you do this and don’t let them install the part, your warranty is usually void).

Your laptop manufacturer, ebay, and craigslist most likely have what you need.

It is called a power socket…I have the same problem with my laptop…the power cord goes in but I have to keep wiggling it to get it to connect inside and work on electricity. I have not yet done anything about it except wonder how much it will cost to repair and will they tell me I should buy a new laptop!

this is a problem with laptops – you think it should be a minor repair, but the motherboard is involved. unless its covered by warranty, it can be a very expensive repair.
