How to check admissions status online?

When results day approaches, how do we check our admissions status online? I know colleges generally have websites for this, but I'm kind of confused as to where.

Also, Yale states that if you don't Match with them, you can apply Regular Decision. Does this mean that Yale doesn't defer QuestBridge applicants, but only accepts or rejects them? If you're not accepted, you always have to write a new app.

Apparently we’re supposed to receive emails that tell us how to check our admissions status, but I haven’t received any. Well, I received one from Stanford that allows me to check that my application materials are all in, but it’s unrelated to acceptance/defer/reject decision checking, I think.

sinflower, are you asking referring to the Match round? If so, you get a phone call (as well as an e-mail)from a QB staffer, although a few partner schools call you themselves. If you are talking about RD, you find out through regular channels, either e-mail or snail mail.

I’m asking about the Match round. But I was wondering about specialized sites online, since I know for example for MIT they have a site where you can log in and find out admissions results earlier than you get it in the mail.
