How to decline offer of admission

How do I go about notifying Georgetown that I won't be attending? Do I just email or call the admissions office? I know the acceptance letter had a sheet of paper for notification of enrollment, but there was no mention of what to do if we choose not to attend. I want to make sure I don't take a spot from another qualified applicant, so what should I do?

nothing. Waitlisted kids get notified later and they have the option to attend GTown in the summer (losing any deposit they make to a different school).

nstar19: coming from a deferred applicant, that seems like a nice thing to do!
I know many who were accepted to several schools that aren't planning on letting any schools know until May, even though they have no intention of attending. Maybe it doesn't make any difference to GT admissions, but I think you are very considerate for wanting to do that.

Just shoot an e-mail to guadmiss@georgetown.edu. I'm sure the admissions office would appreciate knowing sooner rather than later.

On behalf of all the RD kids, I THANK YOU. :)

I agree with informing the admissions officers as early as possible. I was accepted EA last month and I was thrilled; but just in case one of my other top choices pulls through for me, I will tell them as soon as possible. I put a lot of time, effort, and waiting to get accepted, so the least I could do would make someone else's life easier!
