My son is in the very fortunate position that his scholarships exceed tuition, room, board and books for his first 2 years of school and he will only need 5-6 semesters for his double-major BA as he finished his AA in highschool. How do we approach getting a scholarship deferred to grad school? His major scholarships are Burger King and Foundation for Blended and Online Learning plus University provided merit aid and several smaller awards. Will BK or FBOL defer?
@CourtneyThurston I know u mentioned Reagan and Coke deferring before. Any thoughts on BK or FBOL defering
BK won’t. Idk what FBOL is
@CourtneyThurston thanks for your reply. FBOL is the foundation for blended and online learning. From their paperwork, it doesn’t sound like they’ll defer either. DS got another 4-yr award yesterday so we’ll have to start looking at which ones we give back if no one will defer.
I would be very surprised if you could defer a scholarship. I would ask the people who gave you the scholarship.
I did know someone back when I was an undergrad who finished all of the requirements for a bachelor’s and all of the requirements for a master’s in four years. I am not sure what ended up resulting from this, but it might be something to consider also. I think that he got both at the same time, but I am not sure (I did not know him well at all).
It sounds like your son is doing very well.
Intel and Siemens used to allow up to 10 years to use the scholarships and gave you a choice how much to apply each year. Not sure if that is still the case for current awards.
