How to deflect "how old are you" questions?

I don’t see why an adult would lie about their age to a little kid. I guess sometimes they might do it completely as a joke, because kids are poor judges of age, but I would not find it acceptable if an adult was simply uncomfortable with their age and chose to seriously pretend to be younger (to a person of any age, not just kids).

I guess you are kind of right about women not disclosing their age, because that does seem to be fairly common. I think it’s completely ridiculous and unacceptable, but I don’t make the rules. It’s also pointless to be ashamed of disclosing weight. The problem with weight is the physical appearance, not the number. In both cases, I think shame is a cultural product and is just another symptom of our broken way of life.
