How to drastically improve science score?!

Hello everyone, overall, I did alright on the ACT--but the science section is really weighing me down (as I'm sure it is doing for many others)! Anyone have any advice/tricks they use on the science section? Thanks in advance...

It's all about speed reading, and some luck never hurts. I never entirely read the text describing the experiments. You can get the gist from the graphs/charts/pictures. Just refer to the text when need be. Pace yourself appropriately so that you have roughly 5-6 minutes to complete the comparative viewpoint section. I just got a 36 on the science portion for the Feb. 7th test.

Ya, eazy nailed it. Science is all about pacing your self and getting done within the time limit. Look, if everyone was given an hour on science that I bet 25 percent of the testers would be in the 34-36 range: the questions simply aren't hard at all. Learn to skip the passages on the "charts and graphs" and "experimental science" about 80 percent of the questions can be answered without them, and you just don't have the time to read all those niffy little blurbs about the experiments or whatever. Then, obviously, read over the "fighting scientists" section. This strategy is wat I use...and got a 34 on the science section.

Just remind yourself that the answer to every question is in the reading material they give you. It's not a science test; it's a reading test.

That is correct. The answer is there in the material. It is essentially a reading comprehension test. Our son got a 36 on the Reading (Comprehension) and on the Science (Comprehension) sections. He reads fast and retains things well. That is a talent I think, but if you know that this is what is needed you can practice becoming faster with reading (and retaining what you read)
