How to get LORs as a first-year at a very large school?

I will be attending a large (~19,000 kids), fairly prestigious school this fall but for various reasons I'm already looking to transfer. Please, PLEASE spare me the "you haven't even been there! how do you know you already want to transfer" talk. I do appreciate it but I have my reasons and I'm sure of them :D

I've gotten into several other very good schools but because of costs I would have to wait an entire year to be able to pay (I'm an international student who applied without aid) and my loan will only become available next year. I don't want to defer admission because I'm already old for just now graduating high school and I don't want to wait around another year. I'm basically making the decision to enter college this year to earn credits and graduate on time in 4 years.

Now, big problemito: average first year classes at the school that I've enrolled are 200 students. What would I have to do to get decent letters of recommendation? I'm pretty scared about this.

Sit in the front row, ask relavent questions, look at the professor’s background to see if they have the same college you want to go to, actively participate, and most importantly of all get a GOOD GRADE in the course.

Thanks, makebank!

Do I need to give professors good reasons for wanting to transfer?

Maybe this can help. What I did when getting LOR’s ready for Fall 10’, I created a portfolio containing my resume and contact number (for further updates and look overs), an essay stating my desire to transfer, an unofficial transcript, I also asked to have an appointment for an interview (since I’m really good at face to face conversations/interviews), and of course the application section for evaluation.

I’m just curious which college are you currently attending and where are you hoping to transfer to?

Hope this information helped
