How to Get Off the Waitlist

Trackie!!! Waiting for your news today!! Living vicariously off of your waitlist stories as it seems so close…

I think Brown is going to notify later than expected, as I called admissions yesterday and they said the earliest we could find out is in a few weeks (no specified time). I’ve basically given up hope now.

ahhhh yuck. so i talked to my penn regional counselor again, finally, and he wanted me to send a typed letter that said what i said in my email to the dean to their office so it would go in my file. but no guarantees, no likelies, no maybes, no nothing.

i guess i’m kind of disappointed, but once again… i got my hopes up. it’s never really helped before, but whatever… i guess i’ll just send the letter.

skp,

I called Brown today, and got very different information from what you heard. The lady that I talked to said that they started discussing applications last week, and would be sending out the first wave of letters sometime this week. She also said that it would be an ongoing process until around the middle of June. So, it sounds like we could be hearing something soon! Don’t give up hope yet!

So… I was officially rejected from WashU and Brown. Officially accepted to Emory, even though I withdrew my application - it was so odd when I got the letter.

Anddd here’s the nervewracking story:

So I moved on July 1st and all my mail has to be forwarded to my new address and it gets here about a week late…

and I got a letter from Penn saying they’re keeping an extended waitlist and want to offer me a spot but the deadline was the eighth and today is the tenth!! so I’m freaking out and emailing my admissions counselor and the email address I was supposed to respond to. I am so nervous.

aw best of luck to you!

Thank you!! :)

I received email confirmation that I am definitely on the extended waitlist even though I responded late, and because I couldn’t sleep tonight, I wrote a really amazing letter to Penn.

I’m going to mail it tomorrow and I hope I get good news back.

trackie: can’t believe you are still hanging around; I give you credit…

Funny story about Emory; not sure what’s going on down there but we also received an updated waitlist letter even though we withdrew application…

Good luck with Penn…very, very surprised about Wash U…

Wow… Haven’t realized that this thread never really ended.I’m sad, I missed you guys supporting me! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave me such kind words throughout the whole process. I ended up with a letter from Penn the day before I left for Tulane saying the class was full, but encouraging me to apply as a transfer. I just wanted to let y’all know that I LOOOOVE TULANE, but…

Penn and WashU, I hope you’re ready for my transfer application!

bumping this amazing thread. how’s waitlist stuff going for everyone this year?

waitlisted at wash u and princeton, planning on georgetown right now. wrote some good stuff for washu and sending it in.

wanted to go into law before, but after an amazing research internship and a freaking awesome bio teacher, i really got sucked into the possibilites of research. so wash u.

It has been a horrible time for me but I’m praying that I get into LMU… if not then at least USF… Uggghhhh. LMU said that it is possible to be on the waitlist until August. I would die if that is the case… I would rather hear back by early May that I was rejected then to keep hope alive all through summer and then be rejected.

There are some messages here (from previous years) stating that some have heard back as early as late April??? Anyone been removed from a waitlist before May 1st???

Bump, I like this thread a lot and don’t want to make yet another waitlist thread. I guess only a few waitlists are active as of right now?
