I didn’t get called from WashU either… :'(

Now I have become weary of phone calls, expecting it to be my waitlist schools.

it’s awful to hear when people say that you could still get called. yes, but the chances are now exponentially smaller.

i got off NYU’s waitlist

i followed trackie’s advice to pretty much everything

i would prob not put any other colleges u may have gotten into in ur letter(i mean u could if u want, but i didnt)..it may look to them like u got other “better” offers and that u wont go to their school even if u get off the waitlist

soooo. bump.

i think i’ve lost hope for washu.

my gc and superintendent are both calling penn today, though.

Well, I have tried not to get my hopes up to high yet. I’ve called…and the waitlist is still active for Tulane and Syracuse. Do all the calls come over the phone? I’m so anxious…I don’t know whether I’m nervous because of this or if I’m intuitively portending my result. I was just going to take it, and then all of a sudden I became wrought with this nervous energy.

Last year, lol, I had a horrible nightmare in June about my AP tests. I swear that’s the day they were grading my test. Maybe it’s the same thing… anyways.

At this point, I’m nervous that if I do get called by one college (v. interested, but not first choice) I’ll have to answer right away instead of checking with my other college. How soon must you tell them yes from the waitlist?

And, on top of it, anyone else worried about financial aid on the waitlist?
I mean, I’ll deal because I figure better job placement and stronger programs than my state U will help with the paycheck a little later, but still. Does anyone know how flexible they are? Maybe it won’t even matter.

Good luck everyone who’s still waiting! And thanks for the space to vent… :D

Syracuse gives you two wks to reply. At least they did when they called before May 1. Financial aid may be possible but forget merit scholarships.

pray

but not too much.

i am praying a LOT

so, update:

losing mucho hope on the washu front. they’ve called very few people, or so it seems, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be admitting many more. i’ve called a couple times; no one will tell me anything.

upon hearing that penn would take 90 off waitlist, i had my GC and my superintendent call my regional rep. then i called him later that day. basically just heard that they might be going to the waitlist still, but they’re not sure yet, and they go by major, so if they don’t need poli sci majors, they’re not really looking at the add’l stuff i sent in. also heard that the dean of admissions chooses waitlist people, sooo i sent an email to my regional rep reiterating my interest and talking about an award i got. then i emailed the dean saying how interested i was and what i would do to get in. the next day, it’s 2 pm, i’m in gym class outside playing ultimate frisbee. i get back into the locker room, check my phone. 215-898-7541. yes. the penn UGA office. it’s my regional rep, who says he read the note i wrote to the dean and that he would “love to help me do anything i can to put my best foot forward” in case they “go to another round of waitlist activity” and to call back soon. AHHH! it’s some hope!

so i called back ASAP, at 2:30, right after school, from my GC’s office. the receptionist said he was away from his desk. so i left a voicemail. he didn’t call me back by the end of school thursday, so i called again, and he was out traveling for the office thurs/fri. so i emailed him just to let him know i got his voicemail. no reply yet, neither by phone nor email. hopefully i’ll get something tomorrow! and then i’ll know more.

i hope this turns into something, because i’ve really gotten my hopes up about this phone call…

trackie10x, good luck with UPenn. Hopefully, the dean calls you Monday.

I’m still waiting for Brown. I contacted my alumni interview and she said that a few more students that anticipated will be admitted. Thus, I have no word from admissions yet. Well, the earliest they notify is May 20, which is a few days away.

thanks
good luck to you, too. everyone’s so stressed out lately and on their toes about waitlists! it is not fun.

Trackie10x, yes, it definitely is not fun. Sometimes, I feel like I’m going to Berkeley in the fall and then, I feel like I’m going to Brown. Not having a decision from Brown is messing with me.

i know. i had given up on my waitlist schools and started applying for dorms at tulane, i even got my tulane email and joined the facebook network. ever since my regional rep from penn called me wednesday, though, i’ve been researching penn dorms, looking at the academic calendar, and deciding where i want to live at penn. it just gets my hopes up and then.. oh. no. i probably won’t even get in.

trackie,
i think you will get good news. why would they get your hopes up? it does them no good. i have a good feeling about this.

still, really nervous. :)

trackie, my friend is not going to wash u anymore bc she got into harvard, so there’s at least one more space..

thanks! i still feel as though washu has been really secretive about the whole thing, though. it’s weird.

For those still waiting, do you think it would make a difference to your wl schools if you win a big award at graduation? My s’s school gives out only a few awards on graduation day and they are kept a secret until then. IF he were to win one, and there is one in particular he might, should he contact his WL college to tell them about it? This college has not been taking kids from wl yet but summer melt might happen.

definitely tell them if she gets one. tell them anything.
