How to improve my ACT score?

I received a 26 composite score for the April ACT. I got a 31 on the math, and 24s on all the other sections. Before the test I had studied for months on content only. During the test I was very confident with all my answers. However, I ran out of time on all the sections. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to improve my strategies for each of the sections. This is what I did on my test:

Math: Completed every question as fast as I possibly could. Guessed on any that I couldn’t answer. Left with about 5 questions unanswered.
English: Went through the section at a steady pace. Answered every question with certainty. Left with about 15 questions unanswered.
Reading: Read the entire passage and then answered the questions. Spent about 12 mins on each passage. Left with about 10 questions unanswered.
Science: Read all the information given to understand the experiment/concept thoroughly. Answered the questions based on what the information said. Left with about 10-11 questions unanswered.

For all questions unanswered, I actually filled in choice F for all of them on my bubble sheet. I am aware that wrong answers don’t count against you.

I wish to receive a score above a 30 on my June ACT. I recently just bought the red ACT prep book (I think it’s called the real act book). Please give me some suggestions. Thank you!

You NEED to hurry up a bit. You’re getting answers right but you’re leaving a huge amount of questions unanswered. I think you can get a 30 is you manage your time properly. Wear a watch while taking practice tests and make sure you’re not taking more time than you absolutely need to.

@Daminator
The ACT test rewards speed and accuracy. As you said, there is no penalty for guessing, so by guessing F, you gave yourself a 20% chance of getting the answer.

Time each practice session to simulate the real test.

English 75 questions in 45 min.
Math 60 questions in 60 min.
Reading 40 questions in 35 min.
Science 40 questions in 35 min

Just go as fast as you can. For science, just scan the graphs/charts/data, don’t dwell too long on the passage itself. It’s often unnecessary info, and the key to success on the science section is really just analyzing quickly

Thanks everyone! I was able to improve my score a lot by using some of the helpful tips presented in this forum. Here are my results for the june 2015 ACT exam:
E: 34
M: 33
R: 29
S: 27
W: 9
C: 31

Really happy with this score!!

Great job!

Congratulations on a great score, and thanks for coming back to provide an update!
