How to Improve my Chances

I’m fairly certain I need to transfer schools- I got to a small liberal arts school in the midwest and I can’t stand the location, they don’t have my major (Peace and Conflict Studies- I could major in International Studies and Sociology which could be close-ish) and I don’t feel like I fit into the student body.
I want to apply to Wellesley and Bryn Mawr, and could possibly apply to Mt. Holyoke or Barnard. Wellesley is my top choice but I would be happy to attend Bryn Mawr.
I know these schools are very competitive, and my grades haven’t been great first semester. I had a joint condition and am still suffering from a depressive episode. My grades weren’t awful, 2 B+'s, a B and a C+ but not where I’d like them to be.
In high school I graduated with a 4.5 and had a 32 ACT.
I was wondering if there were any ways I could make myself more appealing to these schools? I’ve shown a lot of interest at BMC, and was admitted last year. I plan to interview with Wellesley and I’ve gotten very familiar with their website.
My back-up plan at the moment is to do another semester at my current school and apply for spring admission to either of these schools if I don’t get into either this semester.
Any advice/ opinions? Thanks!

also the school I currently attend had a lower acceptance rate than Wellesley or Bryn Mawr last year, if that works in my favor at all? I don’t know if coming from a “better” school helps.

Well why did you go there in the first place if it doesn’t have your major?

I thought I was going to be a political science major, but I changed my mind.

Don’t be fooled by Wellesley’s relatively “high” acceptance rate. Its acceptance rate would be halved if Wellesley were a co-ed institution, and its applicant pool is extremely self-selected.

That being said, you sound like a really qualified transfer applicant. If you got into Bryn Mawr once, you should have no trouble getting into Bryn Mawr again. Good luck!

I know Wellesley is very competitive- that’s what makes me so nervous about my application, considering my grades last semester. I have gotten really involved at my school though, assistant stagemanaging two shows, stagemanaging two, volunteering then working for admissions, being involved with the women’s center and Take Back the Night and a sorority.
I really hope to be able to attend Wellesley but I think I’d be more than happy at BMC too. Do you think there’s any chance of me getting into Wellesley with a C+ ? It was in intensive intro Russian language.

I don’t mean to be “that person” but I could really use advice!
