What do you think about that show? Do you believe it bestows confidence to the female members s of our society, or not so much?

Yay! I love the concept of this show. I think it cute.

It seems like a nice idea but I definitely don't want to see those girls naked, let alone in bra and panties.

And that is what makes those girls feel ugly in the first place...

But they are ugly...

as if you are any prettier urself

sigh our society is so scrweed up

^I couldn't agree more.

I see no need to placate selfesteem mongers. If someone is ugly, then say they are ugly. I was merely agreeing with the fact no one wants to see a 270 lb woman in lingerie.

The show seems somewhat interesting because there are ways to become unugly (losing weight, attending to hygiene, lifting weights, etc).

if it were that easy to loose weight everyone would do it.
i have never watched the show so i do not know how large of women these are, but if they are 270 like you say...it is nearly impossible for them to get down to what's deemd "lingerie appropriate" by our society these days.

and no i am not defending them because i am a large person, i am under 130 myself...but am not as ignorant as you to the problems of the obese

Just because someone is fat doesn't make them ugly. There are plenty of thin people who are butt ugly and big people who are lovely. Saying that all fat people are ugly is a generalization and doesn't help them feel any better about themselves so that they take the initiative to start exercising and lose weight.

thank you bannana_girl, for being a rational human being.

yea, I agree. I think myself as an ugly person too. If someone told me I'm ugly I don't mind cuz that's probably true... what's up with ppl wanting other people to tell em lies just to boost their self esteem (esp fat ppl getting mad if they're told they're fat). lol beauty/weight is not everything. though I must agree that hypocrites are everywhere in today's society.

Oh give me a f-ing break

I am well aware of systemic barriers like the saturation of processed crap-food thrust upon urban children and the such. That, however, does not excuse the 100,000,000 other Americans who, like you, either tolerate or perpetuate the endless cycle of pussiness and sedation.

Instead of spending their hard-earned cash on infomercial couture, people could instead, oh I don't know, use that money to buy some damn arugula and spinach. Problem is, people are afraid of hard work and vegetables, and therefore have no right to complain.

I'm with niddumas on this one.

Obesity and overweight cause higher rates of just about every disease and health issue you can name; there's a reason we've been evolutionarily programmed to think that fat people are ugly.

And nobody is saying that it's easy for them to lose weight. But given all the problems that obesity and overweight cause, they should definitely put in the effort to maintain a normal, healthy weight. And you would be right if you said I had no idea how hard that was; I'm thin by nature and have never had the problem. Unfortunately, not everyone is born physically and genetically equal, and it is in everyone's best interests to work toward being healthy regardless of how "hard" it might be. That's just the way it is.

we aren't. Being overweight was a sign of wealth and considered attractive back in the 16th centery or so. It's media that wants us to have skinny hoez.

Regardless, they are still killing themselves when they are 100+ pounds overweight, and we shouldn't support that. Do you find junkies with heroin addictions attractive too? They can't help it.

Don't want to turn this into a biological debate, but we definitely are.

I look at it this way- when you are overweight, you often feel hopeless, there was something that started the become heavier, and it often had to do with self esteem, things in peoples lives etc

AND, often, overweight people hide from themselves and the world and think, gee, everyone judges me without seeing me for me, so what is the point?

(look at the posts on this site)

WHen you have a show like this one, and I have watched all the episodes, its about embracing who you are, and often, when that happens, and you feel good about being YOU, then the physical can often follow

Its the hate and judgement here that is what is ugly

how the hell are you gonna say we're programmed to think fat ppl are ugly....open a history book...larger people were linked to wealth and beauty in the olden days while scrawny skinny sticks were presumed to be peasants

and btw if you're gonna get into the negative health aspects of being overweight mind you that...what is considered fat now...that is being 20 pounds overweight..is actually much healthier than being skinny. your body needs fat to function

Lol 20 pounds overweight is not fat (just means they might be interested in losing a few), 270 pounds is fat.

what do you guys think about judging people based on their looks/weight? sometimes i look around and i see all these thin/pretty people hanging out with other thin/pretty people, and i wonder if they're just all friends cause they're thin/pretty. then i start wondering if they only become friends with thin/pretty people because they feel too cool for not as good looking people, or because they don't want to be seen with them because it would take away from their coolness?

get my gist?

sometimes i just wonder if most people are shallow or if people who never judge others even exist. sorry that was random.
