Hello I will be attending college this fall in upstate NY.
I need help on making my dorm bed VERY COMFY, I like plush softness, not hard anything.

There are feather beds, fiber beds, memory foam, mattress pads it's all confusing, I've learned from previous posts that layering up these items on your bed is a must, but which items do I layer? and in what order?

Also, I like to be cold when I sleep not hot, I checked out a fiber bed from BBB today and it was very soft, just seemed thin. Any help would be great.

Buy yourself a quality foam mattress pad. Walmart sells twin sized ones for 10 dollars; it’s great the first few weeks, but flattens out rather quickly. I believe you can buy good ones for like 50 bucks or so. Well worth it. That’s really all you need to make the bed comfortable. Good luck.

My friend this past year had not one but two memory foam mattress pads. His bed was so. freaking. comfortable. I suppose you could achieve a similar effect with with folding a king-sized one in half. Either way.

I had a solitary Tempurpedic one, and I couldn’t be happier. I slept like a baby, and a majority of my friends noted how comfortable it was to sit on, much less sleep on.

Egg shells are horrible. Girls with big boobs aren’t, but the only sleeping arrangement which fully utilizes them is vertical stacking, so keep that in mind.

Go for one of the thick fabric ones filled with down; those are really nice and plush-y. I can’t vouch for the tempurpedic ones but those would probably be good too (though I’ve never seen a tempurpedic mattress pad, just mattresses and pillows but whatever).

Whatever you do, DON’T buy a cheapo foam pad from Walmart or something. I got one that was $20 from target and it was terrible… It was basically just a strip of cheap foam. It flattened out/got really warped, it didn’t fit my bed properly, and ultimately it didn’t really make me very comfortable - I probably would have been better off without it. So don’t do that!

You’re probably going to have to spend at least $50 for a nice pad (ideally $80-100 or more if you’re going for the fabric/down variety) but it’s an investment well worth it. Also, don’t underestimate the value of a good pillow (those you can usually find deals on…)
