My D17 and I were surprised to find recently that the school report that the guidance counselor sends to colleges does NOT include detail about class options that were open to my daughter at different times in her HS career. It’s a very small school with accelerated math & science curricula but limited AP classes & no “honors classes” because of its small size & availability & flexibility of teachers, classrooms and students. Since her freshman year, the school size has increased by 40% and they’ve had a big increase of AP offerings just in the last year or two – too late for my daughter, however, who is dual-enrolled at a local university full-time this year.
She also just found this info out (that the report doesn’t include this info) after she had already submitted multiple EA applications, so she’s going to call all of those admissions counselors to ask them directly how she should share that information with them.
As for her other apps that she hasn’t submitted yet, where should she put this info in her Common App? My daughter says it doesn’t make sense to put it in the part that says, “Please share any additional information that you would like the Admissions Committee to know about your interests, personality, aspirations, etc. that may not be easily discernible from your academic record or list of activities” – but I think that’s only place to put it???
Thanks for your advice
