Hi guys! I put a lot of prep into my SAT before I took it in December, only to receive a 6 on my essay. How can I improve to raise my overall score? Any tips on how to study?

I also got a 650 CR score. Any tips that you took to heart?

Anything is helpful! Thank you SO much!

Pray.
Why did you wait so long.

I didn’t wait. I’ve been doing essay writing programs and practicing but I wanted tips to try to help me out in any way possible.

btw, most top tutors will tell you that methodology in the link CHD provided is NOT the way to go.

^I agree with that. However, with a week to go I would definitely ignore the tutors and use the method that’s most popular on this site. One other option is a guy that TRP likes to reference who charges $650/hour.

TRP - how much money do you think tutors make when students follow the methodology linked above. Oh, and they don’t recommend it? What a coincidence.

Have you surveyed most top tutors? Again my friend, accuracy please.

I suggest go to PWNtheSAT website. Graduate of Brown and 2400 on SAT.
He wrote a workbook on SAT Essays.
Lots of stuff on his website. If you buy the workbook for $15, he will grade your essays for free. You become a member of his website and have to type in the essay.
PWNtheSAT is my go to regarding Essays.

^I agree that Mike has great advice on essays. OP, that is another good option.

TRP, just so you know, most of the PWNTheSAT essay info does not come from the Brown grad with a 2400 SAT, but from somebody that Mike identified as an expert in SAT essays. Considering its your “go to” it might help to be a little familiar with the background.

chd,
there you go again. I have the pwnthesat Essay guide. There is no co-author. Mike will put others trusted sources on his website. ie. Erica Meltzer, etc.
you are just full of bad info and advice.
I’m sure you are xiggi in disguise cause this is killing you.

Well the best essay advice I’ve seen on Mike’s website is written by Peter Peng
