I have applied last year and I'm a sophomore now.
I don't know how to apply and do I need to get new PID?

Please let me know.
I want to apply as soon as possible.

I also hear that you just need to update the information.

I also hear that you just need to update the information.

Start as if you are filing a new 2008-2009 FAFSA. After you put your information in (name, SSN etc) it will come back and say you have filed before and do you want to file a renewal. The renewal FAFSA will have all the personal info in it.

Same PINs as before.

First check with your college's financial aid office

Second, you are suppose to use the same parent & student pins for the duration of your undergraduate years

Probably true that you can update info for 08-09 by using basic info from 07-08, double check.

Thank you guys, what do you mean by checking with the college's financial aid office?

Check the school's FA office to be certain of everything you need to do to renew FA. FAFSA, yes, but there might be school-specific forms they want you to fill out. You probably will need to send IRS papers. You also want to be certain about the school's deadlines.

To the OP...you do not need to check your financial aid office to see about the FAFSA renewal. If you know you need to do the form, do as above.

Re: other documentation needed....EVERYONE should check to see what their school requires for financial aid renewal and also check the deadlines posted on the school website. DO NOT send the school things they do not request. For example, if your school doesn't request completed tax returns, do not send them.

Franglish, sending IRS information is not required by every school. In fact, in my experience, we only needed to send them freshman year, and then when we were selected for verification (woohoo!!). The schools (both of my kids) did not require tax returns for finaid renewals. BUT CHECK THE SCHOOL website...what you need to submit will be there.
