I recently completed a philosophy class earlier this month in Winter Intersession. Should I input the class, record the grade into Spring semester and write an additional comment saying that I took that class in Intersession?

If there is no particular place to put the course I think you have the right idea by putting it in the Spring and using the additional comments to make it clear that the class was taken during Winter Intersession.

Also, I had an W from Fall '13. Should I explain it in the additional comment? If so, how should I explain that? I can’t just say I hate the substitute that gave me a darn hard time with the class :))

Well, I think thats a pretty good excuse but I’m not sure how UC admissions officers would view it.
I’m honestly not sure what the smartest thing would be to do in the case of having a “W.”
I guess it depends, what was the “W” in? Was it a core course? A pre-req?
Or was it a course that isn’t too significant (for lack of a better word) for your transfer?

No, not a core or pre-req class! It’s just for IGETC. It’s a History class but I already replaced that class with Philosophy. I dont know how to effectively explain the W :(

I’m sorry
I have no idea how, or if, you should be mentioning the W.

I put my winter classes in the additional comments, not sure if its the right way though

It’s not the right way. You were supposed to select “semester system with winter session” or something like that when you choose your school’s term type.
