I am currently applying to a Kaiser Permanente (it's a hospital, if you guys don't know) Internship program. It's all throughout the summer 5days/week for 4 hours/day.
I'm sure most of you will agree that there is a lot of time after to at least do something, maybe tutor someone, volunteer or take a community college course or two. The thing is, they require a commitment to only do the kaiser internship and nothing else. I was planning on taking 2-3 college classes and volunteering at a senior home on the weekend. I do need the money and I would love to work at Kaiser, but is it worth it in the long run?

Opinions please? And ideas of what else to do in summer if I get rejected?
I live in So-California, more specifically the San Fernando Valley. If you know any great programs, please tell me! I'm quite a noob on the CC forums!
Please &thank you CC-ers!

From the perspective of what you’ll learn and how it would strengthen your eventual college application the internship is a great opportunity and is the better choice.

I’m turning in my application tomorrow and will speak to the coordinator about how REQUIRED it really is. I’m assuming it means they are just very forceful on us only doing the internship.

If they’re requiring you to only do this, I would suspect that they would want you to work for more than 4 hours a day. Otherwise, what’s stopping you from taking a class without letting them know?

What do you do then when you’re not doing the internship? Like shravas said, it’s only four hours a day. How can they possibly know what you do outside of those hours?

woah dude? I live in the san fernando valley too and have been looking for opportunities to intern/volunteer. Do you know the description of the internship and what its about? hopefully medically related (I’m pre-med)
