So from what I've heard, this is the most important summer for college? I'm a bit bummed. My girlfriend got into TASP and I have nothing compared to that.

I was just wondering what most people would think of an unpaid internship with a Wharton grad? Would that sound impressive to colleges? It's either that, or a $4000 stipend with a nonprofit. I can't do both.

I just feel like the more rewarding experience is with the Wharton retirement specialist. The firm is AXA. French firm dealing with equities.

I have lots of econ/finance related things under my belt (National Economics Challenge State Finalist, etc.) so I'll be applying to top econ schools like CMC, UChicago, Swat, Amherst, etc.

Opinions?

Why not try volunteer work?
Hours are flexible, looks good on a college resume, do whatever you want and have fun helping people out.
Remember that your summer should be your time to have fun. Do something you enjoy rather than doing something you think will help you get into college. The majority of people aren’t worrying about school over the summer, they’re having fun.

I mean I’m in love with Econ which is why I want to do the internship. But turning down $4000 at the same time?.. -_-

And I already have 300+ hours of volunteer work at the hospital. Part of me says I’m bored of it haha.

Bump any opinions on what I should do? :)

I’d go with the internship. Make sure you remain involved with the hospital volunteering, perhaps a few times during your junior year toward the end of it, and perhaps during the summer on days off. Colleges dot want to see you bail out on an activity, so do remain involved. If you leave now, it’ll look like you just volunteered for the right to be able to say it, even with that many hours. Either way, you can’t go wrong as far as which activity. Have fun!
