I just took a diagnostic test, and I got a 640. As I reviewed the incorrect questions, I noticed that the majority of them were about taxonomy, mammalian hormones, and plants, topics that are either not covered in my AP Bio class because of the change in the AP exam content or not needed to memorize in my class.
My parents want me to enroll in a test prep class as soon as possible, but I think that, besides the obvious lack of knowledge in the aforementioned topics and the inevitable silly mistakes, I have the potential to do well on my own. How can I prepare for the subject test in May? Is a test prep class even worth it for such a specific test? What are the best resources for preparing for the test?
I think paying for a test prep class is a little extraneous. Sit down with a review book (I studied from Barron’s) and read, highlight, memorize if necessary.
@iamsaucy Is the Barron’s book the best one for the Bio subject test? And may I ask what score you got after preparation?
@photogeek8 I personally thought it was really good, it had a lot of diagrams for me to study from which is especially important for plant/animal physiology. Tbh my score was meh bc I got a 770 LOL but I was having a terribly stressful week the week of the subject test. Don’t get too obsessed with the high scores because my colleges still didn’t take it too much into account/it was still a plus for me.
@iamsaucy Thanks for the advice!
