Hi all,
I am a rising senior who took the SAT last March and got a 1530 which I’m pretty happy with, but scored a 790 on the math section and only 740 on the evidence based reading and writing. I am retaking it on the August test date and am starting to study again. The goal is to increase my reading and writing score and not really care about the math since almost everywhere superscores now. My question is, how much would top LAC’s care about a terrible math score on my second test? At a minimum I’d put in a couple hours on the math so I could score in like the 600s, but should I put in a little more effort and try to get at least in the 700s or only focus on doing well on the reading and writing?
Focus on doing well in both sections. Your score in Math might go down a bit but anything 750 or up is going to validate that 790 no problem, and you simply have no idea how colleges will perceive what appears to be a very poor second math score. You don’t want to risk invalidating your “superscore”.
