How to survive IB

Any advice on how to survive IB. AM going to start the IB program in my juniour year.

www.ibscrewed.net

Don't procrastinate! This has killed the majority of kids at my IB school.

MAKE TIME for sleep.

Pay attention in class/ Do as much HW at school as possible.

Have CAS finished before senior year.

Learn how to write 1000-word essays in less than 2 hours.

Do all this and you should do fine.

^^Oh yeah, the essay thing is definitely important. If you can crank out a single-spaced page in the hour before you go to school, you're doing well.

I second using www.ibscrewed.net (not that you need to waste more time, but hey...)

Otherwise...
1. Know your procrastination limits. A lot of people tell you to not procrastinate, but that's just impractical, because almost everyone does it. You need to figure out your learning style. If you need to write things the week before and edit them, don't procrastinate. If you can pull off a good night-before paper, go for it. Just realize that some of these habits aren't great to keep up for university.
2. Marking guides!! Use them! Know what criteria you need to fulfill for an assignment (especially labs, essays, and commentaries).
3. Review regularly. Easier said than done, but it really helps for unit exams, finals, and IB exams.
4. Sleep.
5. Have a life. Use CAS as a social activity if you have to - join band, mun, science olympics, etc. and you will meet people!
6. Have all your EE research done at least a month before your EE draft is due. Don't be reading or doing lab work too close to when you need to be writing.

Good luck.
