How to take classes exceeding the limit

I have 17 credits at rutgers New Brunswick right now for Fall of 2011 and i want to take 1 more class making it 20 credits but the maximum they allow is 19... now when i add the class I want, it says,

Adding this course will take you over the maximum credits allowed. Drop a course first or see your academic deans office for permission to take an overload.

I just decided I want to double major in Psych and in Bio and the last class I want to take is a Psych class.

I know i have to go to the academic deans office for permission but what do I tell them? If i tell them i want to double major would they let me take over 20?

Also will this increase my tuition?

I am assuming you want to take 20 credits in one semester. Now I am not a RU student but usually you have to fill out an overload petition because you are taking over the recommended amount. Overload petitions depend on your gpa and how much you claim you work usually. If you have a good gpa usually they let you do it.

You have to wait until add/drop, webreg won’t let you go over 18. It’s to stop students from loading up on a ton of credits and then unloading it later. Just hope whatever you want stays open
