How to talk to my teacher about my grades/get my grades up?

I was absent yesterday and today since I had a fever, and on those days we had to give an informative speech. I checked the Powerschool today, and it said I got a 0/100 for the speech, which I completely understand. In the syllabus he gave us on the first day, it says that you will get a 0 if you miss a speech day without making prearrangements. I don't see how I could know if I was going to be sick or not, though. That 0 brought my Speech grade down from a 95 to an 83. I really worked hard for that A, but my being sick brought my grade down 12 percent in just two days :( I guess most people didn't do too well though, because he sent an email telling us that we were allowed to do a "respeech." Should I ask if I can give my speech after school on one of the respeech days? How should I approach him?

On an unrelated note, I also have an A- in PE because of participation. I'm sure my grade will drop since I was gone for the past two days. Do you know how I can fix that, as well?

Summer school is only six weeks long, and today was the end of the third. I have already used both of my absent days. If I am absent one more time or have three infractions (tardies/trouble) I will be dropped from summer school and get an F. Will I be able to being my grades up in time??? :'(

Thanks!

Ask if you can do PE makeups. At our school you stay after school and run a mile for each day you missed

Well it’d be best if you try to use your sickness as an excuse and accept the fact that you didn’t email/call him the morning you were sick and ask if you can retake(well take it for the first time) after school that day or sometime that week. Just make sure you’re polite and avoid sounding whiny.

For PE, I doubt the teacher would drop your grade for being absent.

@QuadMaster some schools do that. If you are absent in my school if you don’t make it up you get a “0” factored in for the day. Even if you have a valid excuse.

You might be able to talk to the other teacher for your powerpoint. Being sick should be an excuse

Is it possible to get a doctor’s note or something? I know at my school, if you miss an assessment and you bring in a doctor’s note, you’re allowed to make it up without penalty. Go talk to the teacher; I’m sure he’ll be reasonable about it. I would start off by apologizing for missing the original speech date, and then explaining what happened.

For PE, go to the teacher and explain that you were sick. Ask if there’s any way to make up what you missed. Sometimes, if you sound genuinely willing to make it up, the teacher might even let you off the hook without actually making it up.

My Speech teacher emailed me and said that I should give my speech on Monday. He wanted me to get the same feel as the other kids did, and if I do poorly I can just do the respeech thing. Thanks for all of the advice! :)
