I am an incoming freshman at a school but was not admitted into the engineering program. I’ve heard from students at the school that it is extremely difficult to transfer into engineering. Because I want to transfer into engineering and may not be able to at the school I’m going to, I will likely have to apply for transfers for other universities while needing to transfer majors.
I don’t know if I can take all the required classes for many universities because engineering students get the priority in choosing the engineering classes over other students like me, so how should I do about this?
Do you have a four-year course list for engineering majors at your school? The first couple semesters (or even years) are probably mostly prerequisites like calculus and physics. These general classes might be more open to students from different majors.
It might also help people answer if you named the school?
virginia tech, sorry i should have probably made that more clear. There is a list i know of for the first year but i heard its still hard to get into the prerequisite classes even though theyre so big, so if I’m not able to get into them I need a backup plan
Prepare for a five year degree if you cannot take the necessary prerequisites before transferring.
Consider attending summer sessions at your current school or at another university when those classes may have more availability for non-majors.
