I'm still a high school senior, but in case I need to transfer..what do i need to know about?

-Do you usually transfer after freshman year for soph year? Is it required to be then?
-I also know you need certain classes in order to transfer to another college.
-For recs, do you need high school teacher or college teacher recs? Are the college professors even willing since you're technically going to another school? I'm kind of scared they might be angry or something.
-When you apply, is it usually the timeframe as freshman applicants? meaning same deadlines?

Also, what counts when transferring?
college & h.s. ECs, h.s. & college GPA, SAT scores, recs. Is that all?

-You can transfer so that you begin either sophomore or junior year at your new university, in almost all cases.
-I don't know about certain classes.
-You will probably need one or two college professor recs. Sometimes, if you're in your second semester as a freshman, you can send a high school rec.
-Most deadlines I have seen for transfer apps are March 1 or April 1, occasionally much earlier. (I know nothing about the Californian universities.)
-It depends when you transfer. If you transfer so that you'll be a new sophomore, you'll need a strong high school record; if as a new junior, high school stats carry less weight. Or so I'm told. ECs and GPA always count; SATs not quite as much for a junior transfer, and recs you will always need. You will also, in many cases, be asked to obtain a rec from the Dean of the college at which you have matriculated, but don't worry. It's really just a statement that you're in good standing.
Hope this helps...
