i am jewish and would say im highly ambitious
theres like 3 jews at my school, im prob the most ambitious
asians are a big part of my school and they are as ambitious as me but not necessarily very smart
theres like 5 black kids at my school, i dont know their academics
white kids are the rest, some are ambitious, others aren’t
our val has been asian for the past 6 years
middle eastern (persian, lebanese, etc.) make up like 20 kids at our school, some are ambitious and others are not
and one australian kid
LOL

My school’s demographics are probably something like:
White: 89%
Hispanic: 10%
Asian: <1%
Other: 1%

My AP classes are almost entirely white. I’m part Hispanic, and the only Hispanic in any of my AP classes, both this year and next year. APUSH, AB Calc, AP Physics C, AP Chem, AP Psych… all white.

we have like 3 percent black… overall… and like 15 percent asian

There are mostly whites, blacks and hispanics at my school. Not alot of asians
I’m in the “smart” classes and there are only two or three blacks. Most are whites and some are hispanic (equally smart). I know some asians that are in regular classes although most of them are in AP classes and make straight A’s or honor roll so yes the stereotype is true to an extent.

White people are interspersed from remedial to AP. Asians are usually at the top, though I know some that are in regular lit and then AP Physics B… lol

There arent’ a lot of black upperclassmen, but the one I am friends with, she was in my double French class and was gonna take AP French with me, but her schedule wouldn’t let her. I think she’s in other regular classes, though.

I suppose people assume I’m Hispanic, so there you go. And the one Jewish person I know at my school is in my AP Lang class. There are probably more, but asking if someone is Jewish is random

@plue… I can count on one hand the amount of black juniors there are at TJ.

It’s basically all white and asian… except for a few hispanics and blacks.

My school… I’m the only black guy in HL math and HL Chemistry.

Only black IB Diploma candidate.

And our school is like 33% black and 33% hispanic.

In my school its all equal. The AP classes have Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Whites. No Jews since its a Catholic school. I say its diverse.

And sorry to double post. I’m using a cellphone.

My school has no remedial classes. And is very strict with academics which can be the reasons why minorities always excel. It may just be my school. But the Blacks and Hispanics are your stereotypical over achievers

Lol. This thread is bringing out the racist in a lot of you guys.

^I wouldn’t call it racism. It’s more like fact that the majority of advanced classes are populated by whites and asians.
Nobody’s saying that people of other races have less potential or are lower in intelligence.

My school is a magnet school in an already mostly jewish/asian community. With a few exceptions, everybody in my class is asian or jewish (65+ out of 70).

Our #1 super genius person is jewish, and there are a bunch of asians close behind him.

On the other hand, that means my school is one of the few places where the (relative) underachievers are asian/jewish as well…

Well, I’m one of 9 white kids in my school, and only 2 of us are seniors… Although both of us are in AP classes lol, so I guess that’s fairly true.
Most of my school is Hispanic or black, and there is more hispanics in the AP classes than blacks, although both are fairly well represented.
And our one Asian is hovering in the middle of the class.
So, they don’t really apply here lol.

At my school, white kids are on top almost exclusively. However, there was a black valedictorian a few years ago. Kid was a beast.

at my school the stereotypes are mostly true(mostly whites in upper-level classes etc), however at the very top of the senior class it gets pretty diverse- about 5 white, about 4 hispanic, and 1 black student.

Top senior = 1 or 2 Asians (one of them being me, I hope), several whites, 0 black, 0 hispanics
School is 70% black 0.01% Asian, and pretty much the rest white.
Avg SAT: mid 1300

My class of about 240 is almost all white. About 10% probably is black. There are about 10 Asians/Middle easterners. Don’t know about Hispanics…
I’m in all AP and honors and it’s basically the same group of whites and Asians

I live in a big, racially diverse city and go to a public magnet school that’s like 87% Asian, 10% white, 2% hispanic, less than 1% black. The other, crappy public schools have WAY more blacks and hispanics. My school used to be like 50% Asian and 50% white but then the asians sued because black and white kids could get in with lower scores and grades. So since that was ruled illegal, the number of asians shot way up. Also, of the whites, maybe like 30% are Jewish. Which is A LOT. So just in the composition of the school body these stereotypes hold true.

I’ve taken/am taking a total of 9 AP courses. I can’t remember ever having a Hispanic kid in any of these AP courses, and there’ve been two blacks. Two. In 9 AP courses. When I took health, a regular class required for asians, there were WAY more hispanics and blacks in that class than I’m used too because it’s a regular class…

Now, there are dumb whites and smart whites… but in upper level math/science courses, it skews way asian and in AP English there are a lot more whites than normal. I was/am the only white kid in my AP Physics and AP Calc classes. Oh, and I’m Jewish btw lol… The Jewish kids at my school are generally pretty smart/high achieving.

Holy crap. I honestly doubt that there are 87 Asians in my grade in the entire school district (5 high schools, each with about 2000 kids).

That’s cuz SoCal sucks.

Duh.

But yeah, it’s pretty crazy, especially being a white kid. The whole majority minority thing. Sometimes I’m in places with lots of white people (like synagogue) and get freaked out because I feel out of my element without all the Asians.

Bahah I feel the same way. Except, I freak out when I’m in a crowd of black people. :)
