How useful is a Business Admin major?

Hey everyone the college I plan to attend for Spring 2011 has a Business Admin with concentration in Finance that I plan to take....

I hear from a lot that the business admin majors are pretty useless and I would agree but I really want to study Finance.....
What do you guys think?

Of course my other option is to just try to get into a university that offers only finance major but that will take time and cost...X_V

general business admin degrees are worthless. The concentration gives it worth.

Finance is very solid, especially if you have a genuine interest in it. I say go for it.

yea, stay clear of any bachelors in business admin. BBA/BS from business schools are good, especially if you have a good concentration. a BS usually involves more math.

The higher paying concentrations are MIS, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Statistics. The others such as Business Admin, Marketing, etc… generally pay lower.

Finance is a good background, especially when paired up with outside interests. It’s not what you do in the classroom, it’s what you do with your time outside the classroom that is important.
