I plan on attending the 25th and 26th. To those of you who have already attended, how was your experience?

my son went this past thursday and friday. he was disappointed because they did not have student hosts for thursday night and there was virtually nothing to do thursday evening. this left scores of recruits standing around trying to figure out what to do. the consequence was that the kids did not get a sense of the social life there. structured presentations were fine. son went hoping to sign on the dotted line before he left, but he left without his signature.

I attended Blue Devil Days last Thursday and Friday as well, although it seems like I had a different experience than the previous poster.

As obsessedparent said, the structured activities were great! DUI (Duke University Improv) was absolutely HILARIOUS. Do not miss them. The information sessions the next day were also extremely informative and exciting (DukeEngage, Trinity, Pre-Health, etc.).

You shouldn’t have a problem if there IS hosting that night, but it might take a little more searching if there isn’t. The people that I met were incredibly helpful and fun – I had multiple freshman ask if I wanted to hang out with them and be their “prefrosh” for the night. For example, a random girl at our table during dinner decided to take us downtown and show us around campus for the next three or so hours.

True, you don’t really get the real social experience without hosting, but you can find it if you look!

The closing ceremony was great - at least to me (a lifelong Duke fan). We sat on the bleachers across from the ones the Crazies stand on, the band played the fight songs for us, and Coach Wojo gave a phenomenal speech. I would be excited if I were you! Duke is awesome.

Blue Devil Days was probably one of the best experiences of my life. You’ll learn about a plethora of things that Duke has to offer, meet some amazing people, and have an overall great time. The people at Duke are extremely nice, the students there are very helpful and I never imagined that Duke had so much to offer. You’ll have an amazing time!
