I'm in 8th grade right now. Here are my averages:

Social Studies (State History) = 96
Language Arts = 96
CCGPS Accelerated Algebra Honors (I think this is Algebra 2): 96 (I know; not that great)
Physical Science = 97
Chinese Level 1 = 98 (I would have a 100, but the class is WAY too easy so I slack off and don't do my homework)

Well then I have another question: is trigonometry easy to understand? Right now I’m learning the unit circle, inverse functions of sin, cos, and tan, mostly the basics. How hard will it get from there?

Assuming you are talking about an intro level trig class it will not really get harder. But like TheKongo said, stop worrying/get off of CC until you are older…

Jeez, 9th grade is what, not even 5 months away? What’s wrong with planning ahead for college, so that I don’t have to worry about the SAT later? I’m genuinely nervous that I won’t do well in high school, yet there’s all this hate coming in.

No one can tell you how well you’ll do in high school. It’s all up to you. Take classes that you think you can handle but are still challenging. Develop good study habits early and you’ll be fine. As for trig, I’ve never really taken a class that was just trig, it was always trig combined with something else. But honestly, the trig that I did do was fine. Plus you need it for higher math like calculus. Except for the unit circle… Memorizing that whole thing was pointless. You only use part of it in calc.

Every single class you have a 96 or higher in. Assuming that you are planning to maintain a decent work ethic you have nothing to worry about. Don’t worry about standardized testing yet, it is just too early. Be aware that you need to maintain decent grades and try in school, but as a freshman that is really all you need to worry about.

I appreciate all the responses on this thread, including the ones that tell me to get off this forum. While I do not agree that I am ‘too young to be planning for college,’ I acknowledge that I shouldn’t be overly engrossed in college; I won’t spend too much time on this forum. Thank you.

Elementary school and high school are relatively different realms. Your GPA is relative to the classes you take, the school system you attend, your interests/requirements in high school. and numerous other factors. I commend you for thinking so far ahead but as of now, I’d say wait a bit until you enter high school to start dabbling in CC and enjoy the rest of your eighth grade year.

If you really want to prepare for high school however, when you become a freshman, find what interests you. Look into clubs at the high school you’re attending and talk to the ones that have come before you at that particular school. Otherwise, you don’t have much reason to be worrying about your GPA right now.

And as for testing, that comes later with time too. I know of classmates who practiced “test-taking” too early, aced these tests, and eventually dropped off later on because they felt that they were already ready but ended up bombing the tests. So wait until at least sophomore year to be worrying about such things. Enjoy your eighth grade year, cause you’re only going to live through that once and you have four years of high school ahead of you.

Did you just say a 96 isn’t that great. More likely than not you won’t be saying that once you get to high school, especially if you choose hard classes.

Coolguy: You. Are. My savior.
Your math skills never cease to amaze me. Please become my mentor.

Kidding, but Yakisoba… I had like a 3.3 GPA in 8th grade while taking all the “underachieving” courses (slacked off since I was in middle school LOL). I’ve constantly been attaining 4.0 throughout high school so far, and I’m taking several AP/honors courses. There’s really no way to tell what GPA you’re going to get in high school. Just remember that your GPA will depend primarily on your dedication/effort and the courses you decide to take.

High School is so much harder than middle school
Take that into consideration…
My lowest grade in middle school was an 98.5 in LA and I had a 99.9 in math
but then when I got to high school, i had an F to start out in English, and a B- in math
Don’t overestimate yourself… .study

You remind me of me in middle school…
The only advice I can give is don’t get obsessed with youtube, tumblr or the internet in general. They will really impact your grades :)

I got B’s throughout every single one of my math classes in middle school (Granted, they were Algebra 1&2 and GTA), but in high school I’m literally the only person who has a clue what’s going on in Honors Pre-Calc lol. And since middle school, I have stopped being the “Type A Kid” I was once known to be.So, I think you should chiiiiiiilllll and you’ll do just perfectly fine :)

-------------------------------------------If it is to be, it is up to me…
