I’m a junior and high school and have just finished taking the SAT for the third time. My first SAT breakdown was M: 750 CR: 690 W: 730
My second attempt raised my scores negligibly in CR and writing, however, the breakdown on my third attempt was M: 690 CR: 770 W: 800
Superscored, I have a 2320, which I was extremely pleased with. I am worried however that colleges will see the decrease in my math score and this will reflect badly upon me. Does anyone know if colleges look solely at the superstore or take into account all your scores?
I’m no admissions counselor, but it would seem to me that you tried to boost your CR and W scores with success on the third attempt, Some schools superscore, others do not. I wouldn’t worry about it though, unless you are a STEM person with low math grades in your math classes. The results of one test score on one particular day are taken in context with the other 2 test scores, and your overall performance as a student.
Pretty much every school superscores the SATs so you should be fine.
The following colleges don’t super score:
Arizona State University
Auburn University
Augsburg College
Belmont University
Boise State University
Bowling Green State University
Calvin College
Carthage College
Coe College
Colorado State University
Hillsdale College
Kent State University
Lakeland College
Louisiana State University
Marquette University
Middle Tennessee State University
Missouri State University
Ohio State University
Oregon State University
Pennsylvania State University (all branches)
Ripon College
Rosemont College
Texas Woman’s University
University of Arizona
University of California university system
University of Houston
University of Minnesota (all branches)
University of Texas university system
University of the Ozarks
University of Utah
University of Wisconsin Madison
Valparaiso University
West Virginia University
There aren’t too many ‘big name’ universities up there so I think you’ll be fine. If you’re concerned about you math score, maybe take a subject test. Have you taken math I or math 2? If you’re not a STEM major you won’t really need it though.
Also, these schools don’t use score choice: Stanford, Yale, Rice, UPenn, Georgetown, and Carnegie Mellon
Columbia just opened up to score choice
Duke does not accept Score Choice, it requires ALL ACT (with writing) and/or SAT I test results, but it essentially super scores (considering the applicant’s best results).
